Hi mates,
I'm again on the inspiring sofa in Skappergatan 14 and again I feel the need of sharing something with you.
This time is not a waterfall of random thought about us, it is instead an answer to the questions of this week: What did I learn ? What do I think about the process?
It was an intense week where we mixed and melted with each other and with the so called process. This taught me different things:
1) The people are more important than the process itself. So It is important to start from building the team before starting the race.
2) Always start with the right questions. Be sure of having get the WHY of the things you are going to work on.
3) Always have in mind that the people's actions and behaviors have been shaped by the environment they grew up in.
For what concern the process: I honestly loved how everything it has been semi-planned. This balance between rigidity and flexibility makes me enthusiastic.
I appreciated a lot the different companies' tour because each of those companies had something to teach us.
In Spotify I found a striking match between the approach to their final users and the one we should carry in mind.
In Google I loved this Mission that always inspire the employees, I felt that was something concrete and shared and this brought me back to the Mission and Values session of the morning.
In Shibsted I again loved this constant orientation to the future changes. Looking at the threats as opportunities is something that really motivated me.
In conclusion I think that the process will work effectively. All these tours were not randomly picked, so I can see that, even if a little bit hidden, this process it perfected match with our final scope. I'm curious to start this new week, with more consciousness and with the ultimately arrived member ;)
Good Night and remember to cheer for Ilya's birthday tomorrow.
You are so right Andrea! Each of the start-ups although set in a different industry, all have a lot to teach us. I think the common thread between them all also was the willingness to take risks and taking failure as a stepping stone (being resilient). That's something we should keep in mind too as we set out on this adventure for the next 8 weeks (maybe longer!)
