Cultural Observations from a Malaysian Abroad

Coming to Stockholm, Sweden for the first time, I think it's apt that I start with some of my personal/cultural observations:-
  1. People cross the road when the pedestrian signals are red (I do this in Malaysia too, but not in the US).
  2. The Swedes love the sun and are an outdoorsy bunch.
  3. Which might explain why I have not seen any fat people in Sweden (yet!).
  4. There is a surprisingly low rate of homelessness for the capital of a country.
  5. How the Swedes are actually pretty similar to East Asians in that humility is appreciated and that they prefer to keep to themselves unless it's someone that they're really close to.
I will periodically update this blog post and add to this list any new observations =) Until then,

  1. Hey Aaron, nice observations, for point 3 and 4 we should really do a visit to the suburbs they have these "camps" or "districts" where you will notice quite the difference :).
