Week 2: The week that was

The theme of the week was storytelling and we used some interesting methods to get inspiration for our story. The biggest learning for me from this week is the importance of knowing who your target audience is and why are you writing to them. Our story was written with one audience in mind, refined for another reason and then finally edited on the very last day once we were told who our target audience is.

With regards to process, I was very impressed with the way all ten of us came up with such different and insightful presentations that had one coherent message (without much communication between ourselves). As someone who started off as a sceptic on Wednesday morning, I was very pleased with the final outcome and also believed in the theory of "trusting the process". As someone who likes having structure, trusting the process hasn't been very easy but I see it's benefits too. However, what I really would appreciate would be more clarity. I think more direction and guidance right at the start of the week would lead to more efficiency during the week and a more fruitful outcome at the end of the week. This doesn't mean telling us exactly what needs to be done and where and how to research but means clarifying why we are doing something.

In terms of learning, I've gained more self-awareness of how I behave during discussions and have also learnt to be more mindful of how to conduct more efficient brainstorming sessions. I've learnt a little more about how to conduct more effective focus groups and how to get the right information from the right people. Also, Sunny Fridays was great for informal discussions and learning about new topics, new trends and new tips from budding entrepreneurs. Doing a combination of web research, focus groups, prototyping has all helped to connect the dots. Now hopefully, we can apply all this learning to make something more concrete and tangible!

  1. Hey Rucha, I think Andrea and Stefan brought up the thing about clarity and direction as well. Maybe we could all bring this up during the reflection tomorrow with Per and Karin just so we could get everyone on the same page?

  2. I agree. We need more directions with our research in order to keep the group on track and not to get lost.
